Between a state and a citizen’s property stand three gaps. The state wants it. It knows where it is, whose it is and how much. A legal process takes it.
For most of history, property was protected in the second gap: it was safe because it was hard to find. That is the gap artificial intelligence closes. Knowing now needs no warrant. Taking still needs legal process, and the protection that remains is a policy someone else controls.
